Simplifying Your Blogging Processes

After surveying my readers and hanging out in plenty of Facebook groups full of bloggers, I realized the problem isn't necessarily the lack of time, it's the inability to structure and simplify your blogging processes, which ultimately leads to frustration and overwhelm. In this episode, I help you create systems and processes to help you make blogging both fun & profitable.

SIMPLIFYING YOUR BLOGGING PROCESSES

  • Content: You DO NOT need to publish a blog post 3x week or more. You are in charge of your schedule.
    • Determine how many pieces of content you can truly handle in a given week or month.
      1. Blog posts
      2. Videos
      3. FB Lives
      4. Email newsletters
    • Create an editorial calendar and use it. Schedule everything, even newsletters
    • Use guest bloggers to give yourself a break
    • Repurpose content
      • One blog post can turn into:
        1. Video for social media - snippet under 60 seconds
        2. Long form video for YouTube
        3. Several images - quotes, photos from post
        4. Instagram story, FB Live showing how-to or talking about the background of the post
        5. Newsletter about the post
        6. Guest post on other bloggers to send traffic to your site
      • Lots of content?
        1. Think: roundups with a theme
        2. Collaborative blog hops
      • Limit your blog categories, and rotate content through each category (site structure)
      • Work in batches
        • Have a dedicated chunk of time for tasks like:
          • Shooting a project
          • Editing photos
          • Creating graphics
          • Writing content
          • Editing content
          • Scheduling content
          • Shooting video or recording audio
          • Choose your platforms wisely
            • You don’t need to be on ALL THE SOCIAL PLATFORMS.
            • Especially if you’re just starting out, choose 1 or 2 where your target audience hangs out and work on that one.
            • Create written processes & templates
              • Processes for each step of how you write a blog post, create video content, how you schedule content to social media, etc.
              • Follow the same process every single time so you:
                1. Don’t skip a step
                2. Don’t have to think about the process, just the content (free your head space)
              • Templates for how you format a blog post, graphics you create often with your branding, intros/outros for audio/video content
              • Bottom Line: Remember you are one person and you don’t have to do ALL THE THINGS.
