How to Edit Videos in iMovie

You've filmed the video. Now it's time to put the finishing touches on it! And guess what? You can polish that video up without much trouble by editing in iMovie!

Creating videos is absolutely an amazingly fun was to boost your business. The problem is that it can also be a little stressful if you don't know how to edit your videos.

This week, we're talking all about how you can easily edit your videos using my favorite tool ever, iMovie. iMovie is a simple to use editing program and best of all? It's free if you're on a Mac. Have an iOS device? Download the app!

Not using a Mac? Don't worry, I've got you covered with a recommendation. Try Filmora by Wondershare. The functionality is nearly the same and will produce the same quality results.

Clipping.

Here's the thing. No one films a video in one take without any stutters or stumbles. No one. We all have to edit things out. And this is when clipping becomes your best friend.

Using the split clip tool to isolate the stutters, stumbles and other issues from the rest of the video. Then hit delete. It's like it never happened!

Cropping.

Want an easy way to keep your people engaged? Change the perspective of the video. Now a lot of people think you need to have a crazy multi camera set up to achieve this effect but that's not true, fortunately for you!

Instead, use the cropping tool in iMove to change the frames center. Shift things around and make the perspective different. Or add the Ken Burns effect, which is a very cool zoom style feature.

Filters.

Nope. We're not talking about SnapChat. But iMovie has some fun filters you can use to create a really nice change of perspective in your video. You can change the look of the video AND the sound of the audio!

Word of caution, though, keep effects like that to a minimum. Otherwise, it feels less funny and more distracting.

Music.

Adding music is an easy way to make the mood of the video even better. Simply choose a legal to use track (we love YouTube's Audio Library and Epidemic Sound!) and place it under the video clip in iMovies editor.

Lower the volume and you have one amazing video!

And that's all there is to it! Editing doesn't have to be complicated. In fact, it's should be a lot of fun and an expression of your personality.

So get out there and start filming!
