How to Start an Effective Mastermind
Last week we chatted about one of my favorite things ever. The mastermind group. This is such a powerful tool that I have no hesitation in recommending it to every single entrepreneur, whether you're just starting out or a season business owner. But it can be overwhelming. I mean, I told you last week why you should join or start one but I didn't tell you how.
One of the biggest mistakes I see in the online world when it comes to masterminding is going at it without any solid plan. This weeks video is all about creating that foundation. Don't want to watch? That's okay... it's time for the quick and dirty!
Determine the Goal of the Group.
Before you can start a mastermind, you really need to be aware of what you're hoping to gain from it. Are you looking for general business growth? Or will it be more focused?
What Will the Group Look Like?
Now, this is all about the meeting structure itself. How often do you want to meet? How will the meetings be held? In person? On a video call? What days will you meet? How can you communicate in between meetings?
What Happens if a Member is Absent?
This sounds harsh but an attendance policy will make your life easier. How will you handle a member that is frequently missing meetings or late or always leaving early?
Set a Deadline.
Don't assume your mastermind will last forever. Instead, set a timeline for it. A deadline, even.
This allows you to have an end date in mind that you can touch base with your members on to ensure the group is still working for everyone.
Be Intentional When Picking Members.
Your biz bestie might not be the best fit. And that's okay! You want to find people that are equally committed to the groups focus, driven and motivated and at a similar business level.
Have an initial call with potential members to ensure you mesh well and make decisions after that.
See, that feels way less overwhelming, right? So tell me... what will your mastermind focus on?
Until next time, have a beautiful day!
