How to Stop Wasting Time and Be More Productive

So many people don't get their work done or feel accomplished because they don't know how to be productive all day! We're digging into 7 easy tips to help you maintain productivity throughout the day. 

Be honest with me. How much time have you wasted today? How many times have you thought to yourself "geez... I stayed so busy but I got nothing done!"

More than a few, right? Yep, me too. It happens all the time and truth be told, it's not your fault. Society hasn't exactly taught us how to really buckle down and stay focused. In fact, it's something that doesn't come naturally to most of us, unfortunately. 

But this week, I'm sharing 7 tips to help you stop wasting time and stay more productive. Don't have time for my absolutely hilarious video? Here's this week's quick & dirty.

Refer to Your Daily Plan.

Sitting around wondering what to do next? Twiddling your thumbs? Feeling the siren call of Facebook? Stop. Stop that right now. Before you run off to do something else, remember what you have on your priority list.

Focus on One Task at a Time.

Stop. Multitasking. Multitasking is the devils work in the business world. I'm not even kidding. Multitasking means you take twice as long to do something half as well.

Focus on one thing at a time and you'll produce more quality work in a shorter amount of time.

Track Your Time.

Best way to set yourself up for an unproductive afternoon is to give yourself a limitless amount of time to work on something. Once you know what you plan to do, set a timer. The Pomodoro method is especially popular here.

Set a timer for 20 minutes and focus on the task at hand. Once the timer goes off, you're done. Move on to the next project. If you haven't finished the first and you need more time, take a 5 minute break, walk around and come back to another 20 minutes.

Keep a Positive Mindset.

Don't moan and groan about the work you're doing! If you look at your task list like it's a chore list, it becomes a chore.

Remember that the things you're doing in your life are a blessing. It makes getting things done a little less painful.

Schedule in Fun Time.

Everyone needs time to play! Instead of squeezing it in whenever you have a free moment, schedule it in. By have scheduled free time and fun time, you'll recharge yourself and make it easier for you to stay focused when it's time to get things done.

Turn Off Your Notifications.

I cannot stress this enough. On your phone, on your computer, on whatever device you use, turn off those notifications.

Nothing can mess up your day quite like have to deal with the context switching that comes with responding to texts everytime they come in or answering the phone every time it rings.

So just stay in "do not disturb" mode!

Outsource.

You know those things that you're doing that take you forever because, well... you suck at them? Stop doing them. Just. Stop.

Hire someone else to take care of them. Why? Because the return on that investment is that someone that actually knows how to do the task well will take care of it so you can have a quality job done while you work on things you're good at.

Like the bread and butter of your business!
